Dr. Robert Ferdowsmakan has completed advanced hospital based training in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery. He is a native of Scottsdale, Arizona and finished his undergraduate work in Biology at Arizona State University. He was then accepted into The University of Pennsylvania School Of Dental Medicine in Philadelphia, one of the prestigious Ivy League universities. He graduated with top honors and was awarded the American Association of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons Award For Excellence. Dr. Ferdowsmakan received his medical degree from the UCLA School of Medicine. He went on to complete his surgical training at the UCLA Medical Center including a year of General Surgery training and certification in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery.

Dr. Ferdowsmakan's extensive hospital based training includes facial trauma, orthognathic or corrective jaw surgery, microsurgical nerve repair, reconstructive jaw and facial surgery, cleft lip and palate surgery, dental implants and bone grafting, treatment of severe facial infections, dentoalveolar surgery and outpatient general anesthesia. Dr. Ferdowsmakan spends numerous hours on continuing medical education activities to remain up to date on current medical and surgical technologies.

Charitable Work

Dr. Ferdowsmakan regularly donates his time to charitable activities and enjoys giving back to the community. He is involved with volunteer organizations that provide surgical treatment for children with cleft lip and palate birth defects in Baja Mexico. Dr. Ferdowsmakan spends part of his time as a volunteer faculty member treating patients at the UCSD Free Dental Clinic. He also offers Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery services to UCSD cancer patients who are awaiting radiation and chemotherapy.

In his spare time Dr. Ferdowsmakan enjoys spending time with his wife Noushin. They like watching movies and taking walks on the beach. He also enjoys camping and hiking with his family and friends in Arizona.
